Mastectomy Swimwear - Where Do I Start?

Ah, the wonderful task of finding that new sexy swimsuit. Now, just add to that the element of finding the perfect swimwear after a mastectomy, and man, that’s got to be the funnest shopping venture ever, right?

Okay, so the fact of the matter is that, after a mastectomy, shopping for a new swimsuit that makes you feel full and beautiful can definitely be a daunting task. But don’t let it get you down! Shopping for mastectomy-friendly swimwear isn’t as tricky as you may think.

The best way to go with mastectomy swimwear is not to look for a special swimsuit with built-in inserts, but to look for an entire line of swimwear that works with the inserts you’ve already purchased separately. Usually its not too hard to find a line of swimwear that has been custom designed with that desired versatility in mind.

Your quest could begin with an internet search with something as simple as Mastectomy Swimwear or Mastectomy Friendly Swimsuit. You could also throw in some other keywords like pockets for inserts, etc. Not every company does it for all of their swimsuits, so you’ll have to be specific.

Once you begin your search, you’ll quickly find that there are several companies out there that have been providing swimwear designed with post-operative women in mind for many years. You’ll also find that there are many different styles of swimwear available in this line as well.

So begin that search with confidence! You can find that sexy swimsuit that makes you feel beautiful! Whether you’re going for something more modest and conservative, sleek and sexy, or something in between, just know that they’re out there ” and they’ve been designed with you in mind.

Socks - Socks Gossip - Isabella L Dre

If any one had asked me before this article, I didn’t know where the word sock hop came from. Now what does hopping have to do with the fact that one is wearing socks? I guess there might be another reason why the word sock hop is used, but I can’t think of one. So in trying to figure out how socks got associated with hops - meaning dances at schools - I did some searching on the Internet and came up with some really interesting information.

There must be at least a million other reasons why sock and hops were associated, but then again, maybe there aren’t and I’m just flummoxed. It must be quite the stretch of the imagination to even begin to figure out why and how socks, schools, dances and music all came together as a dance.

I bet if many of you who went through school in the 60s will recall those sock hops, the Friday after school tradition where almost the whole school assembled in the gymnasium and rolled out the records for a dance. I remember that just about everyone in my class, socks and all, headed for that huge old gymnasium to start hopping and bopping to the rocking music.

Man alive that place just boomed with sound and some of the greatest hits of all times, while the floor was packed with kids having a riot. It didn’t matter how the gym looked so long as there was a dance and you got to mingle with the coolest dude in the world - the captain of the basketball team, in his socks.

We couldn’t go in to the gym without making sure we took off our street shoes and boots and left them by the door with the teacher on duty. It was ok if we hit the floor wearing socks or even nylons, but anyhow, that is where the term sock hop came from, kids wearing socks to hop to dance music.

You’d hop into the gym on socks to have fun and you’d hop to the music as well, since 60’s music was groovy dude. Isn’t it great how some of these expressions get started? What a colorful history for socks, the quiet hard working tubes of various materials that we slap on our feet and expect to withstand the rigors of what we put them through. Summer goes almost as quickly as it comes. The end of those long, hot days of fun signifies the start of the upcoming school year. That’s when parents, teachers, and kids start preparing for the “back to school” season! But, during an economy crisis, such as we are in, people are a little concerned about how far their hard earned money will stretch this year. Truth is, there are plenty of ways for families for get FREE back to school clothes or to buy for cheap any clothes that the kids will need to make a fashion statement this school year without making a bad statement on your bank account. Here’s how:

Have a clothes trade. Gather a bunch of friends and acquaintances, and get a big space that you can set up like a consignment sale. This could be a local community center or school. Have teenagers go through their stuff and donate the clothes that they can’t fit, don’t want, or simply don’t need anymore. Make sure that you set standards for the clothes such as no holes, no fuzzies, and no junk. Organize and categorize the clothes, and display them. When you find a really good deal, buy in abundance, and have great stuff for the kids as they grow.
